Ignite-NM, Mick Thompson

Twenty-two year old Los Alamos native and free-lance web developer Mick Thompson launched Ignite-NM in July 2009. “I was inspired when I took part in the first Ignite-Boulder, which included presentations on everything from Angel Investors to party-crashing.I just loved the light-hearted nature and fun of it all,” says Thompson.

Northern New Mexico Connect has served as the primary sponsor of Ignite-NM, as part of its Networking and Education initiatives. Ignite consists of short, timed power point presentations, made by members of the audience on topics they are passionate about.

Thanks to Thompson, three Ignite events have been held in New Mexico, with topics ranging from dinosaurs to video gaming to bacon. As Ignite-NM grows, Thompson welcomes new energy on to the stage. He says, “Ignite is all about the community, and I’m always looking for others to pitch in and be a part of Ignite.”
